TRB Tokai Rika Group - Metal Roof Waterproofing

Technical situation

GLS Coatings were contacted by TRB Tokai Rika Group. to apply our waterproofing system to seal their leaking Kingspan roof.

During the site inspection, it was discovered that water penetration was occurring at the verge/ridge of the roof area and where the roofing sheets’ rubber sealing joints had failed.

As TRB Group’s roof was constructed using the Kingspan Trapezoidal Pitched Roof System, it was decided to prepare and coat the roof area using our maintenance free system to provide a seamless waterproof solution.

The Solution

1. Preparation of substrates and primer specification confirmation.

The existing surface was jet washed to remove any loose debris, in preparation for the new waterproofing system.

2. Priming of substrates to which the membrane was applied.

GLS coated the ridge area by sealing it to the roofing sheets on either side using a hand applied system with reinforcement - lapping 250mm onto the uncoated section of roof.

3. GLS Coatings applied a seamless fully bonding liquid coating over the entire roof to form an impenetrable, joint free, seamless barrier.

The applied coating instantly sealed the leaking roof and also provides excellent resistance to ponded water.

4. All data was recorded digitally on iPad Reporting Forms, for sign off by the client.
